To apply an even coating of spray adhesive or paint, you should never start or stop spraying while over the surface, which results in puddling of adhesive and blobs of color. But it's so hard to keep the nozzle held down long enough to accomplish this, especially when it's stiff and hard to depress (often the case with adhesives), and whenever spraying larger surfaces. My poor index finger always ends up cramped and sore, and for people with arthritis, this can be impossible.
However, this handy gadget makes spraying easy, fun, and you don't end up with sticky or painted fingers (and, of course, can also be used for bug spray, hair spray, any other kind of spray bomb application). While there are other brands, The Original Can-Gun is the best on the market. It's made in the U.S. from 100% recycled plastic, has an "arthritis friendly design," and is so cheap you can afford to buy several.
Can-Guns are available at Ace, True Value, Service Star, Coast to Coast, Walmart, Sears, Pep Boys, Hobby Lobby (their gun is purple), Sherwin-Williams' Krylon Snap & Spray is a Can-Gun, as is Plasti-Kote's. Or see Hardback Supplies for an on-line source. In the U.K. it's called a "spray grip." Visit SafeWorld International to learn more about it.
